Providence to Newport Ferry Service to Return for 2018 Season
The Providence to Newport ferry service is returning for the 2018 season.

The service will begin on Friday, May 25 and will run through Columbus Day Weekend.

“We are looking forward to another successful season for the Providence/Newport ferry for residents and visitors. Now in its third year, the ferry is becoming a popular part of our transportation system. It is a great way to increase transit usage and keep cars off the road,” said RIDOT Director Peter Alviti, Jr.Ticket prices remain the same as last year: $10 for adults, and $5 for children, seniors, and those with disabilities.

Bikes and pets are again allowed aboard for no additional charge.

2018 Ferry Service

New this year are later ferries to go along with WaterFire in Providence.

A feature returning this year is an agreement for joint ticketing which allows passenger riding Amtrak trains to purchase a ticket that includes the ferry.

Last year, the ferry carried 43,068 passengers, up nearly 10,000 riders from the ferry’s inaugural year in 2016 when the service provided more than 33,000 trips.
