Raimondo Talks "New Normal" for RI - Screening People Entering Businesses & Touchless Technologies

Raimondo made the remarks on a phone call with northeastern Democratic Governors announcing a partnership to "reopen the economy" following the shuttering of businesses due to the coronavirus crisis.
"The governors have been the ones showing great leadership and taking action -- it's only appropriate doing this now, to show regional leadership to reopen the economy," said Raimondo on the press call.

"None of us has gone through this before. We will be much more likely to get it right in this region," she added.
Trump v. Governors
On Monday, President Donald Trump tweeted in response to the Governors' announcement.
"For the purpose of creating conflict and confusion, some in the Fake News Media are saying that it is the Governors decision to open up the states, not that of the President of the United States & the Federal Government. Let it be fully understood that this is incorrect," Tweeted Trump.
"It is the decision of the President, and for many good reasons. With that being said, the Administration and I are working closely with the Governors, and this will continue. A decision by me, in conjunction with the Governors and input from others, will be made shortly!" he added.
Northeast Governors Talk Testing, Tracing, and More
Raimondo's office issued the following statement, following the northeast Governors call on Monday.
"Recognizing that their states have one integrated regional economy, Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo, New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf, and Delaware Governor John Carney today announced the creation of a multi-state council to restore the economy and get people back to work. This announcement builds on the states’ ongoing regional approach to combatting the COVID-19 pandemic.
The coordinating group – comprised of one health expert, one economic development expert and the respective Chief of Staff from each state -- will work together to develop a fully integrated regional framework to gradually lift the states’ stay at home orders while minimizing the risk of increased spread of the virus.
The council will create this framework using every tool available to accomplish the goal of easing social isolation without triggering renewed spread - including testing, contact tracing, treatment and social distancing – and will rely on the best available scientific, statistical, social and economic information to manage and evaluate those tools."
