RI Latino PAC "Thrilled" About Senate's Passing of Dreamer Bill

Joseph Molina Flynn and RILPAC is "thrilled" at passing of dreamer bill.
The Rhode Island Latino PAC (RILPAC) is "thrilled," following the Rhode Island Senate's passing of the Dreamer Bill on Wednesday night.

The bill allows people who were brought to the United States as undocumented children to obtain RI driver’s licenses or state identification cards.

“We are thrilled to hear that SB7982 passed the Rhode Island Senate last night. Senator McCaffrey's legislation addresses the concerns of advocates to make sure that the legislation is REAL ID compliant and will allow Rhode Island DREAMers to continue going to work and school while the political saga in Washington continues,” said Joseph Molina Flynn, President of Rhode Island Latino PAC (RILPAC).

The bill, introduced by Senator Michael McCaffrey, does not affect the legal status of dreamers, “but will hopefully provide some stability for DACA recipients who face an uncertain future.”

RILPAC adds they also “stand behind legislation sponsored by Representative Williams (HB7891) and Senator Ciccone (SB2567).”

“We are looking forward to seeing Governor Raimondo sign the Bill before the end of this year’s legislative session. RILPAC also continues to encourage our federal delegation and Congress to get back to the table and find a solution to address the status of the nearly 800,000 DREAMers nationwide," said Luanne Santelises, a local immigration attorney and board member for RILPAC.
