The kids were turned over to relatives.

The Arrest

At approximately 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday at Lincoln Woods State Park, a member of the beach staff notified park police that a woman who was possibly intoxicated was preparing to leave the park in a minivan with five children, ages 7 months to 10 years old, inside.

When officers from the Department of Environmental Management confronted the driver, she allegedly backed into one of the officer's trucks in an attempt to flee. No one was injured.

Troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks arrested Duran for allegedly driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level more than three times the legal limit.

Breathalyzer tests showed her blood alcohol content was allegedly .279 and .277 in successive tests.

The legal limit in Rhode Island is .08 percent.
