RI State Police Identify Man Killed in Auto Accident Was Former Politician Chris Young

The Rhode Island State Police are reporting that the Rhode Island man who died in a motor vehicle crash on Route 95 South in Cranston was Christopher Young -- a perennial candidate for public office.

He was 51-years-old and lived in Narragansett, Rhode Island.

Young ran for a number of political offices including for mayor of Providence.

About Crash

Last night, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Troopers received a report of a single motor vehicle crash on Route 95 South just south of the Route 37 off-ramp in the City of Cranston. The motor vehicle veered off the roadway to the right and entered into the soft shoulder where it rolled over.

The operator of the motor vehicle was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by Cranston Rescue and was pronounced deceased. Two additional family members were traveling with Mr. Young and were transported to Rhode Island Hospital for evaluations. Their injuries were minor.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
