The Program

The Cops for Kids with Cancer program is designed to help families dealing with the challenges of a child who has cancer.

The six Troopers who ran the Boston Marathon this past April raised over $20,000 for the national charity this year.

Each of the five families will receive $5,000 to be used to help offset some of the expenses incurred while caring for their children with cancer.

This is the 18th year that Troopers from the Rhode Island State Police have participated in the Boston Marathon, and it is the seventh year they have done so as a fundraiser for this program.
