RI’s COVID Indicators Jump Up Over Weekend - Hospitalizations Now 245

There were 12 deaths over the weekend from COVID. Now, 2,969 have died of the virus.
The deaths have hit seniors the hardest. The New York Times first reported that one in 100 older Americans has died from the virus. For people younger than 65, that ratio is closer to 1 in 1,400.

The transmission rate increased to 620.3 new cases per 100,000 in the past seven days - up from 595 as reported by the Rhode Island Department of Health on Friday.
Over the weekend, there were 2,433 new cases.
