RISD Provost Resigns

RISD Provost Jessie Shefrin has resigned after receiving a vote of no confidence from 80 percent of RISD faculty several weeks ago, announced the College's President John Maeda on Tuesday. RISD faculty also voted no confidence in Maeda.

The RISD administration plans to set up a search committee for Shefrin's permanent replacement in the fall. In the meantime, President Maeda has set up a Web site about the search process for an interim provost. Faculty nominations will be accepted from May 3 to 15 and an Interim Provost Advisory Group will be formed to participate and advise in the search.

Maeda will meet with the Advisory Group on May 16 to hear their input and plans to announce the Interim Provost and Interim Associate Provost by Commencement on June 4.
