“Smart Health” to Feature Brown Alpert Med School Sleep Expert Sharkey on Wednesday

Sharkey, who is Associate Professor of Medicine and of Psychiatry and Human Behavior and Assistant Dean for Women in Medicine and Science, is also a physician at Brown Medicine. Her research focus is sleep and circadian rhythms, particularly as they relate to mood regulation and women's health, and has been featured this year in the New York Times and NBC.

Currently, there are five other clinicians who practice sleep medicine at the location.

About Dr. Sharkey
Sharkey completed her MD-PhD at Rush University in Chicago, IL where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. She completed a combined medicine and psychiatry residency at Rush and joined the Brown faculty in 2007.
She is board certified in Sleep Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Psychiatry, and is Medical Director of the Brown Medicine Sleep Center and the Sleep for Science Research Laboratory of Brown University and is a fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
In addition, Sharkey is an Associate Editor of Behavioral Sleep Medicine, serves on the editorial board of Sleep Health, and recently served as a member of the Society for Women’s Health Research Interdisciplinary Network on Sleep.
