Suspect in Multiple Graffiti and Vandalism Incidents in Providence Arrested
According to police, during September and October, the Community Response Team (CRT) identified Elan Vargas as a suspect in multiple graffiti and vandalism incidents across the city.
Former City Councilor Michael Correia, who lives in Ward 6 which includes the Manton and Mt. Pleasant neighborhoods, said he had been documenting multiple instances of property damage, which he shared with police.

About Arrest
Police said that following an investigation, CRT members obtained and executed arrest and search warrants for Vargas, his residence, and his vehicle.
Vargas was taken into custody on October 9 and investigators recovered graffiti-related tools, materials, clothing, and digital media.
Evidence also connected Vargas to incidents around Providence, according to police.
Police say that Vargas, who is currently on probation, was charged with two counts of vandalism and one count of operating a vehicle without a license.
