As GoLocal first reported on Friday morning, Kebba Njie, who has been licensed as a Nursing Assistant since May 24, 2016, was alleged to have engaged in unprofessional conduct, according to a RIDOH finding.
The RIDOH found in an investigation, “That on or about January 4, 2023, and January 6, 2023, RIDOH received notices that Respondent sexually assaulted a patient on or about January 1, 2023, while providing care to her.”
The alleged sexual assault took place at Greenwood Center in Warwick.
Dr. Utpala Bandy, the Interim Director of Health, signed the suspension order.

The sexual assault was one of two serious incidents that took place at nursing facilities in recent weeks.
In a separate incident, RIDOH suspended another nursing assistant for cocaine.
RIDOH said that on or about December 31, 2022, it received notice that Ebony Igle “admitted that items found on a table in a patient’s room consistent of a white powdery substance, a mirror, and a razor blade, did belong to her. Testing of the white powdery substance determined it to be cocaine.” That incident took place at Grand Islander Center in Middletown.
GoLocal reached out to John E Gage, the President/CEO of the Rhode Island Healthcare Association -- the trade association for the nursing home industry in Rhode Island.
Gage did not respond to questions about these incidents and safety in the industry.
