You Can Buy a Buddy Cianci Portrait for Your Home or Office - Funds to Support Scholarships

Copies of the portrait by Augustin Patino are $60.
The Cianci Foundation has announced it is now offering a limited edition 35x22 inch print of the late Providence Mayor's "favorite" portrait, for $60.

"Buddy's favorite portrait was not the official portrait that hangs in Providence City Hall today. It was this one painted during his last term in 2000 by renowned artist Augustin Patino of Providence. He enjoyed this portrait so much that it hung in his personal office until his passing," says the Foundation.

"We have made a limited number of reprints to honor Buddy. Each reprint is on a poster board and is approximately 35 inches high and 22 inches wide," the Foundation continues. "All sales will benefit the continuation of yearly college scholarships. We will reach out via email to arrange for you to pick up your purchase."

About the Scholarship -- 2021 Deadline Coming Up

The Foundation writes the following about Cianci -- and the scholarship.

Considered to be one of the most exciting and charismatic leaders in the City of Providence, Rhode Island’s history, Vincent “Buddy” A. Cianci Jr. served as Mayor from 1974-1984 and 1991-2002. On September 23rd, 1999, Mayor Cianci became the longest-serving Mayor in Providence’s history. Throughout his time in office in between, he showed his love for Providence and Rhode Island in immeasurable ways. Buddy championed the city’s residents through support of the arts, the culinary scene, and the growth of Providence as a tourism destination.

The Cianci Educational Foundation honors his legacy in supporting Rhode Island residents in high school seeking higher education. The Foundation is dedicated to further enhance the educational spirit of arts, economy, urban development, health care, and politics through financial support and initiatives that raise awareness.

We invite you to help carry on his legacy by applying for one of three Mayor Vincent A. Cianci Jr. Scholarships we provide each year. Two scholarships will be awarded to Providence high school seniors and one to a high school senior from within the other cities and towns in Rhode Island. Each scholarship awarded is for two years of college education at $2,500 each year, totaling $5,000.

Application Deadline is March 31, 2021
