Cicilline Calls for Investigation Into Fellow Rhode Islander Flynn's Communications With Russia

United States Congressman David Cicilline is calling for an investigation into National Security Advisor Michael Flynn’s communications with a Russian Ambassador which allegedly took place one month before President Donald Trump took office. Flynn is a retired U.S. Army General, Middletown-native and URI grad.

“These are incredibly disturbing allegations. If true, then General Flynn, as a private citizen, aided the Kremlin in undercutting President Obama just months after Russia interfered in our elections.”

So far, nine current and former U.S. officials have confirmed the allegations raised against General Flynn. There needs to be a complete, thorough investigation into this matter. And until that investigation is complete, President Trump should suspend General Flynn’s access to classified intelligence,” said Cicilline in a statement.

Flynn was named 25th National Security Advisor on Friday, November 18.
