New Poll Show Raimondo Has Trouble with Women

Gina Raimondo, General Treasurer
A new poll for the Democratic nomination for Governor unveils some concerning polling numbers for General Treasurer Gina Raimondo. She is getting only 30% of the female vote.

The poll conducted by Democratic pollster Joe Fleming for WPRI-TV found that Raimondo trails Providence Mayor Angel Taveras in the overall results (Taveras 33% and Raimondo 29%), but most concerning for Raimondo is that she captured less than one-third of the female vote. Raimondo has been endorsed by the leading women's political group, EMILY's List.

“As Rhode Island’s first Democratic woman treasurer, Gina Raimondo has tackled the tough issues with her bold and pragmatic approach to problem solving,” said EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriock. “The EMILY’s List community – now three million members strong – understands the enormous positive impact women like Gina make when they hold in executive leadership positions, and we are thrilled to help this courageous trailblazer become the first woman governor in Rhode Island history.”
