The Money Race: Who’s Up and Who’s Down?

Attorney General candidate Peter Kilmartin raised nearly double what his two Democratic primary opponents had combined in campaign contributions from mid-August to early September, according to the latest campaign finance reports filed yesterday. However, one of his opponents, Joe Fernandez, has boosted his campaign with a $100,000 loan.

Kilmartin pulled in $37,220.69 from individuals and $1,875 from political action committees. Stephen Archambault, in contrast, raised $15,205 from individuals and $800 in PAC money. Fernandez reported $13,370 in individual contributions and no PAC money.

Fernandez had $31,111.06 cash on hand—the most of any candidate. Kilmartin had the second biggest war chest, with $22,350.74, and Archambault had $14,859.96.

The latest fundraising numbers were revealed in the campaign finance reports due seven days before the primary. However, as of early morning Wednesday, not every campaign’s report had been made public on the state campaign finance Web site.

The reports cover the period from August 17 to September 6.

In addition to the AG race, the latest reports show a wide disparity between the two candidates running for the Republican nomination for governor. John Robitaille hauled in $17,512 in individual contributions while Victor Moffitt collected just $1,365. Neither took money from PACs during the reporting period.
