Trillo Blasts RI Senate Over Bill Banning Trump from Election Ballots

Joe Trillo blasts the RI Senate for bill banning Trump from ballots
Gubernatorial candidate Joe Trillo is blasting the Rhode Island Senate over a bill to pan President Donald Trump from Rhode Island’s election ballot.

The bill is sponsored by Senator Gayle Goldin and unanimously passed by the Senate Judiciary Committee.

“This is one of the most absurd things I’ve ever heard of. Senator Goldin should be ashamed of herself for trying to take away the privacy of any citizen, to satisfy the agenda of Progressive Democrats,” said Trillo.

Trillo served as a National Committeeman for the Rhode Island Republican Party during the 2016 election.

The Bill

The bill requires candidates for U.S. president and vice president to file copies of their federal income tax returns with the state Board of Elections in order to get on Rhode Island’s primary or general election ballot.

According to a new poll from NBC/WSJ, nationwide, President Donald Trump's approval rating has moved from 39% to 44% among registered voters.

Trillo added, “It should be the fundamental right of any candidate to be on the ballot, whether or not he or she releases their tax returns. President Trump is currently at a 36% approval rating in Rhode Island. His numbers are up, his popularity is up and our economy is thriving more than ever. In response to all of this, Senator Goldin wants to try to prevent the president from appearing on the Rhode Island ballot, to continue his good work on behalf of our country. Her attempt at trying to derail the president’s accomplishments is pathetic and transparent.”
