A former teammate of Tom Brady on the New England Patriots warned an NFL rookie about just how tough the first year in the league can be -- on players’ wallets.

Fred Taylor, who signed with the Pats for two years at the end of his career, warned New York Jets first-rounder Garrett Wilson about the costs that come with rookie dinners, when the incoming players are often made to pick up the tab for the whole team.

More specifically, Taylor called out Brady — who's back for another year in the league after teasing retirement.

During a recent appearance on ‘The Pivot Podcast,’ Wilson joined podcast co-hosts Taylor, Ryan Clark, and Channing Crowder, who shared their rookie dinner stories.

While talking about his time in New England, Taylor revealed, “When I was in New England, the entire team went out on the rookies. All I know is that bill comes back like 50, 60 thousand because Tom would come in there and buy a three, four, five thousand dollar bottle of wine, take one sip, quit it, and say goodnight.”

And while Bucs rookies thought they could breathe a sigh of monetary relief when it appeared Brady was retiring — it looks like no such luck this year.
