BREAKING: Patriots Sign Former NFL MVP Cam Newton

“Former NFL MVP Cam Newton has reached agreement on a one-year, incentive-laden deal with the New England Patriots, league sources tell @mortreport and me. Newton now will step into the mix to try to help replace former Patriots’ QB Tom Brady,” tweeted ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
In 2015, Newton lead the Carolina Panthers to Super Bowl 50 and was named MVP.

He spent the first nine years of his career in Carolina after the Panthers drafted him with the first overall pick in 2011. Newton had one year left on his contract and was owed $21.1 million. The team will incur a salary cap hit of only $2 million in dead money with the move," reports the Charlotte Observer.
He has been one of the NFL’s greatest runners and has suffered from two seasons riddled with injuries.
Brady left the Patriots as a free agent and signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
