Bryant Football Set to Visit Maine

Bryant visits Maine on Saturday
The Bryant Bulldogs football team hits the road this week when they head to Maine to take on the Black Bears.

“Maine is a traditional Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) power, they play in the best league in the country when it comes to football, so we know the challenge that we face. We have practiced extremely hard this week we are looking forward to Saturday,” Bryant head coach James Perry told GoLocalProv.

Kick off is set for 3:30 p.m.

Maine vs Bryant

The two programs will be meeting for the sixth time in history and the fourth time in Maine.

The Black Bears have won the last two games of the series and hold a 4-1 advantage all-time.

Last season, Bryant held a 21-0 lead, but were outscored 28-10 in the second half and fell 35-31.

Bryant Offense

Last week the Bryant offense scored 29 points in the fourth quarter to come from behind to beat Merrimack 49-41.

In the game, the offense fumbled and lost the ball three times and quarterback Price Wilson threw two interceptions.

"We did a very poor job with the ball last week as far as turning it over, so we have to make a huge jump there if we want to beat Maine. I think the kids are taking that very seriously," said Perry.

Wilson would go on to throw for 378 yards and four touchdowns in the win, while Portsmouth's Matt Sewall hauled in nine catches for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

Bryant Defense

The Bryant defense will be led by defensive lineman Dillon Guthro and Kevin Lazo.

Last week, Lazo recorded five tackles and a sack, while Guthro recorded four tackles and a sack.

Linebacker Thomas Costigan led all Bryant defenders with 2.5 sacks in the game.
