Celtics re-sign Avery Bradley: 4 Years, $32 Million

Avery Bradley soars in for a layup.
The Boston Celtics have agreed to re-sign guard Avery Bradley to a 4-year, $32 million contract, according to multiple media reports.

Baxter Holmes of the Boston Globe was first to report the contract terms.  Bradley was a restricted free agent, meaning if he had signed with another team the Celtics would have had the opportunity to match the contract and keep him.

The 23-year-old Bradley notched career-highs in scoring (14.9 points per game), rebounding (3.8 per game), and minutes (30.9 per game) last season. The 6’2” combo guard is known as one of the better on-ball perimeter defenders in the NBA as well.

The move signals that Bradley is indeed part of the Celtics’ rebuilding plans.  Those plans now include a pair of first round picks- Marcus Smart and James Young- in a suddenly crowded backcourt with Bradley and star point guard Rajon Rondo.

Only time will tell where GM Danny Ainge and Head Coach Brad Stevens are taking the Celtics' roster, but the theme for the offseason thus far has been stockpiling young, athletic guards for the future.
