Curran, Bradley Claim 2015 CVS Charity Classic Title

Jon Curran and Keegan Bradley
New England's own Keegan Bradley and Jon Curran have won the 17th CVS Charity Classic, posting a score of 21-under par 121 for the tournament and an 11-under par 60 for the final round.

"I haven't won any tournament in two and a half years so I'll take any win I can get. But the CVS  Classic is synonymous with New England, we always grew up watching it, and it's fun just to play in it, but for us to play and win it, is really cool," said Keegan Bradley after the round.

Bradley and Curran, former High School teammates at Hopkinton High School each took home $150,000 to go to their respective charities. Bradley was playing for City Year Providence while Curran was playing for Tides Family Services.

The win marks only the second time in tournament history that newcomers have won the title.

Harris English and Lexi Thompson finished second at 19-under par.

Making a Run

The low round of the day goes to Billy Horschel and Jimmy Walker who started the final round at seven under par before posting 11-under in the second round to finish in third at 18-under. Horschel and Walker used a stretch of five birdies in the first six holes to put themselves in contention right from the start.

"We shot ourselves in the foot yesterday, gave it a good run today, but it's a great week no matter what," said Billy Horschel after the round.

Horschel and Walker got to within one stroke early on the back nine but were unable to catch Bradley and Curran.

Local Favorites

Brad Faxon
Local favorites and tournament co-hosts Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade came in at six under par in round two and finished at 14-under for the tournament.  But despite not winning, it has still been a great week for Brad, Billy and the CVS Charity Classic.

"I'm so happy, I know Brad's happy, we are both happy, I know Larry Merlo and everybody at CVS Health is very happy, this is such a win win and such a beautiful day to end the tournament," Andrade said.

The CVS Health Charity Classic

Last year's CVS Charity Classic raised $1.4 million for local charities with a  total of $18 million since the tournament began in 1999.

"We enjoy playing in it, I know Jimmy and I are very thankful that we get invited back every year and hopefully we keep getting invited back cause we love supporting this event, we love Billy and Brad and hopefully if we keep coming back we can win one year," said Horschel about the tournament.

"I feel there is some revamped energy here too, I've seen more people out here this week then the last couple of years, I think the way the course has bee set up for the spectators is more appealing, the presentation is better, and our field has been amazing,"  Brad Faxon said about the CVS Classic, which continues to bring in some of the best players in the game to Rhode Island on a yearly basis.

When asked during the trophy presentation if they would return to defend their championship, both Curran and Bradley said "absolutely."
