Dallas Mavericks Cut Former PC Friar Ricky Ledo

The Dallas Mavericks have announced that they have cut Providence native Ricky Ledo in order to make room for Amar'e Stoudemire.

Ricky Ledo has spent the majority of his young NBA career playing in the NBA D-League with the Texas Legends. While with the Legends, Ledo averaged 16 points and five rebounds per game while shooting 46 percent from the field.

Ledo only played 16 games in the NBA and averaged 1.8 points in a little less than three minutes of play time per game. 

Dallas has decided to keep Bernard James over Ricky Ledo. James is signed to a ten day contract. 

The Dallas Mavericks drafted Ledo 43rd overall in the 2013 draft after he spent one season at Providence College in which he did not play.

Upon committing to PC, Ledo was ruled only partially eligible by the NCAA, meaning he could only practice but not play with the team.

This came after Ledo attended four different high schools in five years.  

Ledo's Future

Current Providence Friar forward and Ledo's former teammate at PC  was vey optimistic about Ledo's future: 

Ledo is now eligible to sign with any other team as the NBA season gets set to resume after last weekend's All-Star break.
