Baseball mainstay Don Zimmer died last week at the age of 83, and the former Red Sox manager (1976-1980) was as respected a figure as there was in the game.

After spending the final 65 years of his life involved with Major League Baseball, Zimmer leaves behind a career filled with memories.  But one memory that sticks out with all Red Sox fans who witnessed the 2003 American League Championship Series is the comical but sad confrontation Zimmer had with Red Sox pitcher Pedro Martinez.

Tensions were high that day.  The Curse of the Bambino was alive and well, and with a trip to the World Series on the line in the ALCS it didn't take long for tempers to flare.

After benches cleared following a Roger Clemens "buzz" of Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez, Zimmer, then the Yankees bench coach, took special exception to something Martinez said, and the rest is self-explanatory.
