GAME ON: Hendricken’s Meehan finalist for the Gatorade National Boys Cross Country Runner

Bishop Hendricken Senior Cross Country star, Ryan Meehan was named the 2010-2011 Gatorade Rhode Island Boys Cross Country Runner of The Year. Meehan, who will attend Harvard in the fall, was honored for his athletic excellence, academic achievement, and exemplary character by winning the award. Meehan led Bishop Hendricken to first-place during last season’s All-State meet, along with finishing with the second-best individual time of 15:37.57. Beyond athletics, Ryan is an outstanding student with a 3.76 GPA and is active in faith-based community service.

Past recipients of the Gatorade Rhode Island Boys Cross Country award include a former Hendricken Hawk, Jake Sienko (2009-2010), Andrew Springer (2008-2009, Westerly), and Nick Ross (2007-2008, East Greenwich). Meehan is now a finalist for the Gatorade National Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year award, which will be announced later in January from a pool of 51 nominees.
