Q & A with BriAnna Narodowy, Mount St. Charles Girls Hockey Athlete
What has been the biggest challenge being a high school athlete?
The biggest challenge definitely has to be keeping up my grades during the season. Being a high school athlete you really need to find time to get all your work done and do well in school to be able to play. So finding the time to do all the homework and everything gets difficult at times.

My biggest motivator has to be my dad. He's my go to guy when I need hockey advice or when I need to talk to someone about improving my game. He's my biggest critic but also one of my biggest motivators.
Who is your biggest rival?
I would have to say that our biggest rival is Bay View. Our team knows that we have to play perfect against them because it is always going to be a big game. We've played them every year in the state finals too, so we always end up playing our biggest games against them.
What are you working to improve your game?
I'm trying to work on taking better shots on net this year. During practice I try to pick the corners of the net and work on aim to help me during the games. I'm just trying to take wiser and stronger shots to help out my team the best I can.
What is your greatest memory on the court?
My greatest memory on the ice has to be winning the state championship last season. The team really came together and worked as hard as we needed to and it all paid off. Our team put in a lot of time and effort last season to be the best that we could be and to win the championship was a great feeling for all of us.
How are you able to balance your schoolwork with practices, games, and training?
I take advantage of any free time that I have. Whether it be during the school day or after practice I just make sure it all gets done. I usually set time aside for relaxing and time for getting my work done. It's taken me a while to adapt and develop time management skills, but they're beneficial and let me get my work done on time.
Where do you see yourself going from here, do you plan to pursue this sport in college?
I am probably going to go to Elmira College in New York next year. I plan on trying out for their Division 3 team and hopefully playing hockey in college. I'd love to stay involved in the sport as long as I possibly can.
