What has been the biggest challenge being a high school athlete?

The biggest challenege about being a high school athlete in my opinion is being able to do your homework go to practice and still have time for other things that you like to do. This for me is to hang out with some of my friends that don’t play basketball.

What / who is your biggest motivator?

I have to big motivators that help me big time. One of them of course is my father. He is always at my games either high school or AAU no matter how far they are. He is always telling me what I can do to get better. The second one is my best friend Doug without him I would never even be close to how good I am now. He has helped me on every aspect on my game since 8th grade when he knew I have the talent to do something special.

Who is your biggest rival?

My biggest rival in basketball in Cranston West. I may be friends with almost everyone on the team but when it is game time you don’t take that into consideration. Another rival I have is getting down on myself when I miss a shot or do something wrong. But this year I have been getting a lot better at it especially with my great teammates and coach who just tell me keep doing what I’m doing even if I can’t hit the shots.

What are you working to improve your game?

I am doing a lot to improve my game. When I have free time I go to the gym and just shoot trying to get my jump shot better. I also try to work on my dribbling skills because I don’t know if I am going to grow anymore so I need to do the things that will help me on the next level.

What is your greatest memory on the court?

My greatest memory had to be this year when we beat Cranston West for an upset because everyone thought we had no chance.

How are you able to balance your schoolwork with practices, games, and training?

It is very hard to but I try my best. Sometimes you have to take the sacrifice and stay up a little later to finish what needs to be done but you have to do it.

Where do you see yourself going from here, do you plan to pursue this sport in college?

Yes I definitely plan on playing in college. But right now I don’t know where exactly I want to go.
