LeBron, You May Not Want to Read This!

Here are some miscellaneous thoughts as I wonder how any team besides the Miami Heat will win the NBA championship over the next 5 years:

we are all witnesses

-How can anyone call themself a “King” when they’ve never won a crown?

-I’m sure the fans of Chicago, New York, Cleveland and Akron are thrilled because their Boys and Girls Clubs received some of the proceeds from LeBron’s  “Look at Me, I’m the Greatest,” special.

-I don’t ever want to hear a pro athlete cry about collusion on the part of franchise owners after the player collusion between James, Bosh and Wade.

-My two favorite NBA teams: the Boston Celtics and whoever plays the Miami Heat.

-The Celtics knocked both Miami and LeBron James out of the playoffs this postseason.  Wouldn’t it be great if they could knock them both out in one shot next year?

-Another reason for Celtics fans to hate LeBron’s decision is that former Laker coach Pat Riley runs the Heat.

-I thought part of the make-up of an elite professional athlete was not just accepting but also relishing a great challenge.  LeBron’s decision either blows that theory out of the water or tells us more about what’s not inside his chest.

-I used to laugh at Cleveland fans.  Now I genuinely feel bad for them.

-If they win the NBA Championship, they will be referred to as “Miami Thrice.”  If they don’t, they’ll be known as the “Three Stooges.”

-Does this now mean that Pierce, Garnett and Allen are the “Little Three?”

-Did anyone tell these three that there’s only one basketball?

-As a life-long Boston fan and, therefore, a New York hater I suppose I can take some consolation in the fact that he didn’t choose the Knicks.  Can you imagine how insufferable NY fans would be if he led their team to a championship?

-Call me crazy, but having been born and raised in New England and a life-long Celtics fan, if I had the talent to play in the NBA I would want to play my entire career for my hometown team.

-Jeff Van Gundy was right when he implied that any championship won by this so-called “dream team” will hold less meaning than if the three of them had all won one on their own.

-The balance of power in the NBA has shifted to the East.

-You don’t have to be defensive guru Tom Thibodeau to realize that the way to defend the Miami Heat will be to dare LeBron James and Dwayne Wade to beat you from the perimeter by making jump shots.

-The Heat should change their logo from a flaming basketball going through a hoop to a bulls eye because that’s what they will have on their backs heading into every game they play.

-I will be holding a primetime special on ESPN tomorrow night at 9 to announce what the topic of my next column will be about here on GoLocalProv.com.
