NEW: Patriots Cruise Past Dolphins 38-7

The New England Patriots snapped a two-game losing streak on Sunday afternoon, cruising past the Miami Dolphins 38-7 at Gillette Stadium.

The win improves the Patriots to 2-2 on the season, while Miami falls to 3-1 overall.

"This game’s great, but you’ve got to turn the page once you learn from it and you get focused on the next game. You build on things you didn’t do well, you understand what they did well, and some other teams are going to see that too. It’s a long process. It’s a long season. We’ve only played four out of the 16. Hopefully, we’re a lot better in October than we were in September," said Patriots quarterback Tom Brady after the game.

Miami still holds a one-game lead over New England in the AFC East.

Pats Offense Back on Track

After scoring just six points in the first half of the last two games, the Patriots offense got back on track against Miami.

After Stephen Gostkowski gave New England a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, Tom Brady connected with Cordarrelle Patterson on a 55-yard touchdown pass to increase New England’s lead to 10-0 after a Gostkowski extra point.

The touchdown catch was Patterson’s first since the 2013 season.

After a Dolphin’s turnover set the Patriots offense up at Miami’s 22-yard line, Brady handed the ball to James White who took it into the end zone to give New England a 17-0 lead after the Gostkowski extra point.

New England would add a touchdown with 18 seconds left in the first half when Brady found Phillip Dorsett in the end zone to give the Patriots a 24-0 halftime lead.

Midway through the third quarter, Brady hit White on a 14-yard touchdown pass to push the Patriots lead to 31-0 after a Gostkowski extra point.

Brady finished the game completing 23 of 35 passes for 274 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

New England would add another score in the fourth quarter when rookie Sony Michel ran one into the end zone from 10-yards out to give the Patriots a 38-0 lead.

The touchdown run was Michel’s first of his career and capped off a game in which he ran for 112 yards on 25 carries.

Miami would score a late touchdown, but the Patriots would cruise to the win.

Gordon’s Debut

New wide receiver Josh Gordon made his Patriots debut on Sunday after sitting out last week.

He hauled in two catches for 32 yards.

"He’s put in a lot of work, a lot of time trying to understand where to line up and what to do, and he came up with some big plays today. He kind of got us going in certain areas. Everyone played pretty good who was out there today, so it was great to have him out there," said Brady after the game.
