Patriots Linebacker Jerod Mayo Announces Retirement

Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo has announced his retirement from the NFL via his Instagram account on Tuesday night. 

In the post, Mayo thanked team Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft as well as president Jonathan Kraft, Coach Bill Belichick and Patriots fans. 

The announcement comes after Mayo finished each of the last three seasons on injured reserve, suffering pectoral injuries in week 6 of 2013, and in the divisional round against Kansas City this past season.

In 2014, Mayo went down with a patella tendon injury which he suffered in week 6 and missed the remainder of the season. 

Mayo was a first round pick of the Patriots in 2008 and played with New England his entire career. May made two Pro Bowls, was named first team All-Pro in 2010, and played in one Super Bowl.
