PC Hockey Picked to Finish 3rd in Hockey East

The Providence College men's hockey team has been picked to finish third overall in the 2015-16 Hockey East Preseason Coaches Poll released on Monday. Providence received two first place votes. 

Boston College was picked to finish first, Boston University was picked second while UMass Lowell and Northeastern round out the top five. 

Massachusetts was picked to finish last.

2015-16 Friars 

A season after winning their first national championship, PC returns nine seniors and seven incoming freshman, including Hayden Hawkey, Erik Foley and Steven Ruggiero, all three of whom are NHL draft picks. 

Hawkey was a sixth round pick of Montreal in 2014 while Foley was a third round pick of Winnipeg in 2015. Ruggiero was selected in the sixth round by the Anaheim Ducks in 2015. 

Overall, Providence has eight NHL draft picks on their roster. 

Season Begins

Providence kicks off their season on October 9 when they visit Miami of Ohio and play their home opener on October 16 against Holy Cross. 

A national championship rematch against Boston University will take place in Providence on November 13 and then in Boston on November 14. 

The regular season concludes on February 27.
