NEW: PC's Cooley Named Assistant Coach on USA Basketball U-19 Team

Providence College men's basketball head coach Ed Cooley will be an assistant coach on the under-19 USA basketball team, according to ESPN's Fran Fraschilla. Team USA will be led by head coach Sean Miller from the University of Arizona.

This is the third straight season in which Cooley has been involved with USA Basketball. In 2013, Cooley served as a court coach during training camp  for the under -18 World Championships while in 2014, Cooley served as an assistant coach on the under - 18 team  that brought home a gold medal at the FIBA Americas Championship.

Team USA consists of some of the top high school recruits in the country including Harry Giles, Josh Jackson, Jason Tatum, Terrence Ferguson and Isaiah Briscoe, who has already committed to Kentucky.

The world championships begin on June 27.

Ed Cooley is entering his fifth season at Providence College after leading the program to back to back NCAA tournament appearances before losing to North Carolina and Dayton respectively.

Prior to coming to Providence, Cooley spent five seasons at Fairfield University.

Ed Cooley is a native of Providence, Rhode Island where he attended Central High School.
