NEW: PC's Harris to Leave Men's Basketball Program

Providence College announced on Tuesday that redshirt junior forward Tyler Harris will be leaving the men's basketball program after graduation. While Harris is a senior and graduating, he has one more year of basketball eligibility left which he will play somewhere else according to statements that he made on his twitter account.

Harris as a Friar 

Tyler Harris played two seasons for the Providence College Friars and helped the team win the 2014 Big East Championship and make back to back NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time since the 1988-89 and 89-90 seasons. 

In 2014, Harris played all 35 games and averaged 11.6 points and pulled down five rebounds per game. In 2015, Harris played in all 34 games for Providence and started 12 of them. In those games, Harris averaged ten points and four rebounds per game. 

Harris lost his starting job following the December 13 game against Stony Brook in which he posted four points in 26 minutes of play. Harris got the start in the Big East semifinal game against Villanova but did not score a point in 25 minutes of play. 

In the final two games of his Friars career, Harris scored a total of two points on 1-of-8 shooting from the field. 

Harris gone, Dunn next?

With Tyler Harris officially leaving the program, Ed Cooley and the Friars now await the decision of point guard Kris Dunn. Though his NCAA Tournament performance was not great, with 11 points and 7 turnovers, there is still a chance that he could leave Providence for the NBA. 

The NBA draft early entry deadline is on April 26 at 11:59 p.m. The NBA draft will be held on June 25th.
