PC Friars Return to the Top 25

The Providence College Friars men's basketball team (19-8, 9-5 Big East) have returned to the national rankings, ranked #25 in the country in the AP Poll with 72 votes.

San Diego State and Big East rival Butler are the two teams that are directly ahead of the Friars while Big East rival Georgetown sits behind PC, just outside of the top 25.

Providence made its way into the rankings earlier this season when they got to #25 in the USA Today/Coaches Poll before losses to Kentucky, Boston College and Brown bounced Providence from the rankings.

While Providence is ranked in the AP Poll, they sit just outside the top 25 in the coaches poll with two games coming up this week.

RPI Ranking

Along with the new national rankings, the RPI rankings have been updated and the Friars remain inside the top 25 in both the CBSsports.com poll and the CBSsports top 25 (and one) poll.

The RPI rankings measure the teams strength of schedule and is adjusted based on wins and losses and who those wins and losses come against.

In the top 25 and one poll, Providence sits at 23 while in the CBSSports.com poll Providence sits one spot ahead at 22.

The Friars have six wins over top 50 RPI teams and have a chance at more with Butler and Villanova coming up on their schedule.
