Dunn's Triple - Double Leads PC Past DePaul, 83-72

The Providence College Friars men's basketball team (16-5, 6-2 Big East) defeated  ( 11-11, 5-4 Big East) DePaul 83-72 on Thursday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The win, puts the Friars in sole possession of first place in the Big East Conference.

The story of this game is Kris Dunn who posted his first career triple-double and the first triple-double by a Friar since Geoff McDermott posted one eight years ago. Dunn netted a career high 27 points, dished out 11 assists and grabbed 13 rebounds.

The triple-double is the first ever by a Friar in a Big East game and only the ninth ever by any Big East player in a Big East contest.  

Dunn nearly had a triple-double in the first half, netting ten points, grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out seven assists in the frame. 

Dominating performance

Providence got off to a fast start, leading by as many as 21 points in the first half and taking a 18 point lead into the locker room. The Blue Demons made a run in the second half, cutting the PC lead down to as little as eight, 68-60 with four minutes left to go. However, PC went on a 7-2 run to put the game on ice and secure their third straight win. 

Road Trip

PC returns to action on Saturday when they visit St. John's. Tip-off is set for 12 noon at Madison Square Garden.
