Second Half Surge Helps Friars Roll Stony Brook, 79-61

Providence led 36-30 at the half but found themselves in a tie game almost immediately as the Seawolves rallied with an 8-2 run to tie the game at 38 before the first media time out. Providence immediately took back control of the game going up 43-39 and would not trail again. The Friars would be up 53-44 at the under 12 media time out and 65-47 at the under eight media time out.

Kris Dunn followed up with another nice game, netting 15 points, dishing out four assists and pulling down seven rebounds. Dunn also added four steals and only turned the ball over one time in the game.
The Seawolves were led by Carson Puriefoy who posted a game high 25 points for Stony Brook in the loss.
The Friars will now have a week off before returning to action next Saturday, December 20 when they host UMass. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.

Tyler Harris
Tyler Harris had a good game last time out against URI and everyone thought it would be a turning point in his season.
Wrong. In this game against Stony Brook, Harris had four points on one of nine shooting from the field, and seven rebounds in 26 minutes.
Harris had four points and six rebounds after the first half.
With conference play rapidly approaching, Providence needs much more from Tyler Harris.
Kris Dunn
Another solid, low turnover game for Kris Dunn. After having only three turnovers in the URI game, Dunn came back against Stony brook and only turned the ball over once.
Over the last couple of games, Dunn has become more aggressive and has looked for his offense more. Dunn had 15 points on three of nine shooting but got to the free throw line ten times and made nine of the shots.
Kyron Cartwright
Freshman Kyron Cartwright had one of the best games of his young college career against Stony Brook. Cartwright had a double-double with ten points and ten assists, four rebounds and three steals in 21 minutes off the bench. .
Cartwright went four for four from the field, including two for two from beyond the arc, the first two made three pointers of his college career.
Kyron Cartwright was taken out of the starting lineup prior to the game against Brown, more performances like this may get him back in.
LaDontae Henton
After having a three game cold spell, LaDontae Henton has come back and look much more like himself over the last two games.
Against the Seawolves, Henton had 19 points on seven of 13 shooting from the field, five rebounds, two assists and two steals in 29 minutes of play to lead the Friars.
LaDontae Henton returning to form is a good sign for Ed Cooley and the Friars.
Defense
For the second straight game, Providence played pretty good defense, alternating between man to man and the 2-3 zone.
PC allowed 22 points in the paint, forcing Stony Brook to jack up 24 three-point attempts, in which they made nine of them. The Seawolves only shot 31 percent from the field and 38 percent from beyond three-point arc.
The Friars forced Stony Brook in 15 turnovers, 12 of which were steals by Providence. Providence turned the 15 turnovers into 20 points on the other side of the floor.
Kris Dunn led the Friars with four steals in the game while Carson Desrosiers had six blocked shots.
