Second Half Surge Helps Friars Roll Stony Brook, 79-61

The Providence College Friars men's basketball team (8-3 ) defeated the (5-5) Stony Brook Seawolves 79-61 on Saturday afternoon at the Dunkin Donuts Center. Providence gets their second straight win after their three game skid.

Providence led 36-30 at the half but found themselves in a tie game almost immediately as the Seawolves rallied with an 8-2 run to tie the game at 38 before the first media time out. Providence immediately took back control of the game going up 43-39 and would not trail again. The Friars would be up 53-44 at the under 12 media time out and 65-47 at the under eight media time out.

LaDontae Henton led the Friars with 19 points, five rebounds and two assists, also adding two steals to his stat line.

Kris Dunn followed up with another nice game, netting 15 points, dishing out four assists and pulling down seven rebounds. Dunn also added four steals and only turned the ball over one time in the game. 

The Seawolves were led by Carson Puriefoy who posted a game high 25 points for Stony Brook in the loss. 

The Friars will now have a week off before returning to action next Saturday, December 20 when they host UMass. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
