5 Takeaways From The Friars 80-54 Win Over Florida State
Leading the way
The Friars were led by senior LaDontae Henton who posted his second double-double in four games with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Of his 24 points, 19 of them came in the second half. Kris Dunn had another great game for the Friars, putting up 15 points and dishing out nine assists, narrowly missing his second straight double-double.

Stepping up
In the last game against Navy, it was freshman forward Ben Bentil who came up big off the bench. In this game, it was freshman guard Jalen Lindsey who poured in 15 points for the Friars, knocking down five of his six shots from three-point land.
Passed test #1
For Providence, this game was built up to be their first real test of the season and they passed with flying colors. They will have another test on Sunday afternoon back at Mohegan Sun Arena when they face Notre Dame at 2:30 p.m. That game will be shown on ESPN2.

Florida State.
Not taking anything away from the Friars, who played a great game, but Florida State did not look ready to go, and they didn't play like it either.
The Seminoles out of the ACC shot 39 percent from the field, 16 percent from three-point land and only had six assists as a team on their 18 baskets.
Providence's defense is getting better, but it's not that good yet. Lots of "hero" basketball from Florida State.
Tough day for Freshmen.
Overall it was a tough day for the Friars freshmen group, other then Jalen Lindsey.
Kyron Cartwright only had two points in the game though he did have three assists and three steals.
Ben Bentil, after being very impressive against Navy only had two points in this game, and then picked up four fouls in a six minute span.
Paschal Chukwu had no points in the game, but did have one block and Junior Lamomba had no points and an assist.
A tough day for the freshmen today at Mohegan Sun.
Jalen Lindsey
Freshman Jalen Lindsey started the season with a dislocated finger and, in the first two games, was playing with them taped up.
However, over the last two games, the tape has been off and he has been much better shooting the ball. It really showed in this game against Florida State.
Lindsey posted 15 points off the bench, all of them coming from beyond the arc where he knocked down five of his six long range shots.
When Lindsey is able to knock down his shots, the Friars offense is that much better because he is able to spread the floor and allow players like Kris Dunn and LaDontae Henton to drive to the basket.
Lindsey coming into form is a good sign for the Friars.
Kris Dunn
Kris Dunn has been featured in "five takeaways" before and he will continue to be featured in it, because he is that important to the team.
In today's game, Dunn had 15 points and nine assists, one shy of putting up his second straight double-double
What is important, is that he is looking for his shot more. In this game, he took 15 shots and made seven of them. Dunn is a pass first guard and a very good one. But if he doesn't look for his shot, teams will play off of him, making the Friars easier to guard. Similar to what NBA teams used to do with Rajon Rondo.
LaDontae Henton
LaDontae Henton is quickly becoming the go to guy for the Friars early in the season. In this game, Florida State made a couple of significant runs at the Friars, and when a basket was needed to end the run, the ball went to LaDontae Henton.
Henton had 24 points and ten rebounds in the game for his second double-double in four games. Of his 24 points, 19 came in the second half. He also had four steals in the contest.
The Friars are off to a 4-0 start and LaDontae Henton is a major reason why.
