5 Takeaways From The Friars 80-54 Win Over Florida State

The Providence College Friars men's basketball team (4-0) defeated the (1-2) Florida State Seminoles 80-54 at Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday afternoon as part of the Hall of Fame tip-off tournament.  

Leading the way

The Friars were led by senior LaDontae Henton who posted his second double-double in four games with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Of his 24 points, 19 of them came in the second half. Kris Dunn had another great game for the Friars, putting up 15 points and dishing out nine assists, narrowly missing his second straight double-double.

Aaron Thomas led Florida State with 16 points in the game. 

Stepping up

In the last game against Navy, it was freshman forward Ben Bentil who came up big off the bench.  In this game, it was freshman guard Jalen Lindsey who poured in 15 points for the Friars, knocking down five of his six shots from three-point land. 

Passed test #1

For Providence, this game was built up to be their first real test of the season and they passed with flying colors. They will have another test on Sunday afternoon back at Mohegan Sun Arena when they face Notre Dame at 2:30 p.m. That game will be shown on ESPN2.
