Road Woes Continue, Friars Fall 75-66 at Marquette

The Providence College Friars men's basketball team (11-4, 1-1) fell 75-66 on the road to the Marquette Golden Eagles (9-5,1-1) on Saturday afternoon. The loss snaps the Friars five game winning streak and continues their losing streak at Marquette, having not won there in over a decade.

Despite ten first half turnovers,17 total in the game, PC found themselves in a 33-33 tie at the half however, their turnovers caught up to them in the second. A Juan Anderson layup off of Jajuan Johnson steal capped off a 9-0 Marquette run that put the Golden Eagles up 58-46 with just under ten minutes to play in the contest.

Providence got to within four, 70-66, with 35 seconds left but Marquette was solid at the free throw line, knocking down all their shots when they needed to have them. 

One man show

Once again, Providence was led by LaDontae Henton who netted 28 points on 9 of 23 shooting from the field, knocking down six shots from beyond the arc to keep PC in the game. Hinton also added five rebounds and two blocks.

Dunn Struggles

Kris Dunn followed up with 11 points and nine assists but was plagued by turnovers, giving the ball away eight times in the game, six of them coming in the first half.

Juan Anderson led the Golden Eagles with 18 points while Sandy Cohen III followed up with 12 points of his own off the bench. 

Another road test coming

The Friars fall to 0-3 in true road games this season but will have another chance to get themselves a road win when they visit Butler on Tuesday, January 6. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m.
