PC Grinds Out Huge Road Win, Beat Butler 66-62

LaDontae Henton

LaDontae Henton continues to carry this Friars squad on his back. Though he did not lead them in scoring against Butler he was second with 18 points and seven rebounds. Dunn and Henton were the only two players to reach double-figures for the Friars. 

LaDontae Henton has posted double-figures in eight straight games and has been in double figures in every game except two this season.

In the 16 games the Friars have played, LaDontae Henton has had at least 20 points in nine of them. 

Tyler Harris

One has to wonder what is next for Tyler Harris as his frustratingly inconsistent season rolls on. 

Harris netted 23 points in the season opening win over Albany, since then he has not come close to matching that number. 

Ed Cooley took Harris out of the starting lineup prior to the URI game and now against Butler, Harris found himself on the bench practically the entire second half while freshmen came in and helped win the game. 

Tyler Harris played a season low 15 minutes in this game and matched a season low with four points. Harris has not reached double-figures since the Miami game (four games ago).

In a year where Harris was expected to step up and help carry the load, he has been a major let down. 

Kris Dunn

Kris Dunn led the Friars with a career high 25 points in the game, netting 20 of those points in the second half, practically willing PC to the victory. Dunn also add eight rebounds and six assists in the game. 

However, turnovers were once again a problem. Dunn turned the ball over seven times against butler after turning the ball over eight times against Marquette. 

Dunn now has 66 turnovers in 15 games played and averages just under five turnovers per game. 27 of those turnovers have come in the four road games the Friars have played. 

When Kris Dunn learns how to control games on the road like he can at home, that's when he will be unstoppable. Can't turn the ball over six and eight times on the road. 

2nd Half Lineup Change

The Friars trailed by seven points at the half leading to a second half lineup shakeup. 

Tyler Harris, Jalen Lindsey and Carson Desrosiers found themselves on the bench and freshman Paschal Chukwu, Junior Lomomba and graduate assistant Ted Bancroft found themselves in the game. 

Kyron Cartwright only played five minutes in the game. 

In 23 minutes played, Chukwu grabbed nine rebounds, netted four points and swatted two shots. Lomomba grabbed three rebounds and Bancroft grabbed three boards and had an assist. 

it will be interesting to see what coach Cooley does with his lineup in the Georgetown game. Does he go back to Desrosiers?

Swing Game

This was a huge win for the Friars on the road against Butler. PC game into the game with a Big East record of 1-1 after a disappointing loss to Marquette and still without a road win. 

If Providence had lost this game, concern would have shot through the roof as they would have fallen to 1-2 in the Big East and 0-4 on the road with the road schedule not getting much easier. 

However, they got the win, got themselves some confidence and now return home to host long time Big East rival Georgetown. 

This was a huge win for Providence in a potential season turning game.
