50 Point Second Half Leads #24 PC Past Seton Hall 79-66

The #24 Providence College Friars (21-9,11-6 Big East) used a 50 points second half to beat (16-13, 6-11 Big East) 79-66 at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. The Friars now return home for their final regular season game when they host #21 Butler. The winner will clinch second place in the Big East.

The Friars trailed Seton Hall 37-29 at the half before opening the second half on a 16-5 run to take a 45-42 lead with 14:30 left to play.

With 13 minutes left, LaDontae Henton nailed a three-pointer to put Providence up 52-45, their largest lead of the game to this point. That three also gave Henton 2,000 points in his career making him only the second player in Friars history to notch 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.

Seton Hall would get to within four, 52-48, however, Providence extended their lead and the Pirates would not get closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Leading the way

LaDontae Henton and Ben Bentil each netted 21 points in the game to lead Providence, while Kris Dunn followed up with 17 points, seven rebounds and eight assists.

Seton Hall was led by Isaiah Whitehead and Brandon Mobley, who each poured in 13 points.

One regular season game left

The Friars return to action on Saturday, March 7 when they host #21 Butler at noon time at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The winner of the game will clinch the number two seed in next weeks Big East tournament.
