PC took a 40-29 lead into halftime and led 70-56 with four minutes to play before Marquette went on a 10-1 run to pull within five points, 71-66. Providence led by 24 points with 13 minutes left.
However, the Friars would recover, scoring the next six points to put the game away and win 77-66 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
Leading the Way
The Friars were led by LaDontae Henton who netted a game high 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in his second to last game at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
Kris Dunn followed up with 16 points, nine assists and only one turnover.
Marquette was led by Duane Wilson who poured in 22 points, knocking down seven three-pointers in the process.
Two Games Left
The Friars return to action on Wednesday, March 4 when they visit Seton Hall in the second to last game of the season. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

Five Takeaways From The Friars 77-66 Win Over Marquette
Desrosiers
Carson Desrosiers missed his second straight game with a knee injury.
Ed Cooley gave an update in his post game press conference.
"He is still day to day, we tried to get him going yesterday, tried to get him going this morning, just couldn't. Hopefully he will be ready for Wednesday," Cooley said.
While Providence did just fine rebounding the ball against Marquette and were okay against Villanova, his senior leadership is what the Friars miss the most.

The Friars dominated the glass, out rebounding Marquette 45-25 in the game and 19-6 on the offensive glass.
Off of their 19 offensive rebounds, Providence cashed in for 18 second chance points.
Meanwhile, Marquette had no second chance points off of their 6 offensive rebounds.
Turnovers/points off
Providence did a good job of holding onto the ball in this game, turning the ball over 13 times in the game with a bunch coming late in the second half when they got a bit sloppy.
However, Marquette only scored nine points off of those turnovers.
Meanwhile, the Friars forced Marquette into 15 turnovers, nine of which came on Friars steals and cashed in for 19 points off the turnovers.
LaDontae Henton
LaDontae Henton led the Friars with 25 points and 15 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season.
Henton's 25 points came on 11-of-18 shooting from the field and of his 15 rebounds, eight of them came on the offensive end.
During the game, LaDontae Henton eclipsed the 1,000 career rebound plateau and is only 17 points away from 2,000.
Ryan Gomes is the only Friar to have ever accomplish the feat of 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Henton currently sits 4th all-time.
What the win means.
Providence had to win this game and they did, 77-66 over Marquette.
With the win, Providence moves into 3rd place in the Big East as the Friars own the tie breaker with Georgetown. If PC wins out, they will end the season as the second seed behind Villanova going into the Big East tournament.
NCAA projection
In Joe Lunardi's latest Bracketology projection, as of February 27, The Friars were a seven seed which is a drop from the six seed they were at previously.
Providence now has 10 conference wins and 20 wins overall and should be in, barring a complete collapse, and will have a good chance to move back to the six spot with a couple other teams losing this weekend (like VCU). A loss to Seton Hall on Wednesday, however, would really hurt.
The Friars would like to avoid the 8/9 seed because then you play the #1 seed in the second round. So the 6/7 seed is the preferred spot.
Next two games will make a big difference, not only for NCAA seeding but Big East tournament seeding as well.
