Burkhead left the season opener against the Texans with a concussion and did not practice the following week.

He did play six snaps against the Jaguars in week 2, before suffering a neck injury against the Lions.

Against Detroit, Burkhead had two catches for 26 yards.

This injury news comes after Burkhead played only ten games for the Patriots last season due to injury.

Bentley This Season

It is unclear what Bentley’s injury is as he played 57 of 73 snaps against Detroit.

In the game, he recorded his first-career interception during the third quarter which led to the Patriots only touchdown of the game.

On the season, Bentley has recorded eight tackles.

Replacements

To replace Burkhead and Bentley, the Patriots signed linebacker John Simon and running back Kenjon Barner.

Simon has 13 career sacks five seasons. During those five seasons, he has spent time with the Ravens, Colts, and Texans.

Barner was signed by the Patriots on September 11 and then released on September 19.

He has appeared in 44 regular-season games with one start and totaled 77 rushing attempts for 317 yards with three touchdowns and 21 receptions for 127 yards. He has also returned 30 punts for 259 yards and 22 kickoffs for 498 yards.
