PC Escapes Dunk with Win Over Brown in OT

Rodney Bullock, led the Friar comeback
You would have thought the Providence College Friars would take their frustration of losing to cross state rival Rhode Island on Saturday out on the Brown Bears, but that did not happen.

On Wednesday night at the Dunk, PC escaped in a win 77-72 in OT despite having trailed for the first 33 minutes of the game. And trailed they did, down 12 at half-time.

It was not Rodney Bullock who almost left PC last year for the NBA draft or top ten point guard Kyron Cartwright who impressed, it was a Brown freshman and a sophomore who put on the show most of the night.

Brown freshman Desmond Cambridge scored a career-high 19 points and grabbed six rebound, and sophomore Brandon Anderson scored 19 points for the Bears.

Brown fell to 4-5 on the season with the loss and Providence improved to 7-2 with the win.

For the Friars, Bullock led five Providence double-figure scorers with a game-high 21 points, just missing a double-double with nine rebounds. Makai Ashton Langford and Alpha Diallo added 11 points each for the Friars. Cartwright came in the second half and was not scheduled to play due to a bad ankle. He added just two, but important points. He played 15 minutes counting the overtime.

If Cooley was frustrated by the Friars' play this season coming into the game, the game against Brown will surely spark even greater frustration.

THE STAT OF THE NIGHT: Brown and PC tied with 42 rebounds each.
