Rhode Island College Football Weekend Preview

Brown is looking to even up their conference play record, Bryant is opening up conference play and URI is still looking for thier first win of the season, all on Saturday in Rhode Island college football. 

Brown at Princeton, Saturday, October 18th, 3:30pm

The Brown Bears (2-2, 0-1 Ivy)) come into their second Ivy League game looking for their first Ivy League win and an even conference pla record. Brown will be looking to build on their two game winning streak and their double overtime win last week over Holy Cross which gave head coach Phil Estes his 100th career win. The Bears will need continued good play by quarterback Marcus Fuller and running back Andrew Coke if they want to even up their Ivy League record. 

The Princeton Tigers (2-2, 1-0 Ivy) are coming off a tough loss to Colgate where they blew a 16-0 lead and lost 31-30. However, running back DiAndre Atwater is coming in red hot having racked up 131 yards on 18 carries in the game. The Tigers will surely be looking to bounce back this week at home and will be looking for Atwater to lead them again.

Bryant at St. Francis, Saturday, October 18th, 12pm

After being off last week, the Bryant Bulldogs (4-1) return to action this week as they visit Saint Francis University in Pennsylvania for the start of NEC play. The Bulldogs are off to their best start ever in the programs division one history and the second best start in program history behind 2007 when they started 7-0. Last game, running back Ricardo McCray scored three touchdowns and will have to continue his outstanding play. 

Saint Francis(2-4, 0-1 NEC) comes in after a heartbreaking double overtime 46-39 loss to Wagner last week and will be looking to rebound. They come in with one of the best offenses in the league averaging 35.6 points per game and feature the nations leading rusher in junior Khairi Dickson. Also quarterback Zack Drayer is red hot coming off a career high 286 passing yards last weekend and has eight touchdown passes on the season.

URI at Richmond, Saturday, October 18th, 3:30pm

The Rhode Island Rams (0-6) wrap up their two game road trip with a matchup against 19/20 Richmond. For the Rams, redshirt freshman quarterback James Caparell is expected to make his first career start on Saturday with Mack Lowrie recovering from an injury he suffered in the second quarter of last weeks game. Caparell threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns in his relief appearance and is looking to build on that this week.

For the Spiders (4-2, 1-1 CAA) they are coming in on a two game winning streak after beating Albany 41-28 last week on the road. Richmond has a dynamic offense, the best one in the CAA, having scored at least 40 points in four of their first six games. Richmond is a dominant team in the first quarter having outscored their opponents 62-10. Running back Seth Fisher leads the conference in scoring, seventh nationally, with six rushing touchdowns and three receiving touchdowns.
