RIC Women’s Basketball Advance in NCAA Tournament with Win Over St. Joseph’s

The Rhode Island College women’s basketball team remains perfect on the season, defeating St. Joseph’s in their first game of the NCAA Tournament held on the RIC campus at the Murray Center.

 

RIC women won 56-37, but the game at half-time was far closer than anticipated.

In the first quarter head coach Jenna Cosgrove’s team was red hot scoring 24 points and led 24-7 but the second quarter was a reversal of fortune. RIC scored just 5 points and St. Joseph’s — RIC’s led at the half was just 29-23.

 

RIC is now 28-0 on the season.

 

The top scorer for the Anchorwomen was Isabelle Booth with 13. Angelina Nardolillo added 11 points and a team-leading 11 rebounds.

Rhode Island College will host Saint John Fisher in second round action of the 2024 NCAA Div. III Women’s Basketball Championship on Saturday, March 2 (7:30 p.m.).
