Starks Jumper with 1.3 Seconds Left Lifts Bryant Over Denver, 48-46

With the game tied 46-46, senior, Dyami Starks knocked down a pull up jumper with 1.3 seconds left in the game to give Bryant a 48-46 win over Denver. That basket was two of the five points that Starks scored in the final 22 seconds of the game.

Cam Griffin led the Pioneers with 14 points in the game, knocking down all eight of his free throws.
Bryant returns to action on New Years Eve when they host Dartmouth at 1 p.m.. at the Chace Athletic Center.

Five Takeaways From Bryant's 48-46 Win Over Denver
Hunter Ware
Bryant lost the battle of the benches 13 -8 to Denver but for the Bulldogs, freshman Hunter Ware came in off the bench and did a good job.
In 30 minutes played, Ware had six points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block for Bryant. Ware went one of five from the floor and the one shot he hit was a three pointer and made three of the four free throws that he took.
Zach Chionuma was the only other bench player to score for Bryant and he had two points in the game.
Second chance points
The Bulldogs won the rebounding battle 29-21 and managed to pull down six offensive rebounds compared to Denver's one.
Bryant used those offensive rebounds, to help win the second chance points battle 11-3 over Denver.
Forward Dan Garvin helped lead Bryant with two offensive rebounds and five total rebounds in the game
Freshman Hunter Ware also pulled down two offensive rebounds.
Defensive presence
Head coach Tim O'shea has to be happy with his defense in this game on the road.
Denver, shot only 35 percent from the field including one for 13 from beyond the three-point arc for a percentage of just under eight.
The Bulldogs had five steals and forced 14 turnovers, converting those turnovers into 14 points down the other.
Dyami Starks
Dyami Starks has led Bryant all season and so it's no surprise that he is the one that he is the one that gets Bryant the win.
With the game tied at 46, Starks knocked down a pull up jumper with 1.3 seconds left to give the Bulldogs the 48-46 win, their second straight win.
Starks went 7 of 18 from the field and knocked down six three-pointers to lead Bryant with 21 points. This is the fourth game of the last five in which Dyami Starks has had at least 20 points.
Closing out is hard to do
The Bulldogs won the game 48-46, and that's really what matters at the end of the day. However, last season and a little bit early on in this season, the Bulldogs have had problems holding onto leads and in this game, that problem reared it's ugly head.
The Bulldogs led 22-12 at the half and then led by 14 points with just over 16 minutes left in the game. All of a sudden, they are down by four with 4:20 left and needed Starks heroics to win the game.
The Bulldogs have to continue to work on closing out games.
