The University of Rhode Island Rams baseball team fell 23-2 to top seeded South Carolina on Sunday afternoon at Founders park in Charlottesville. The loss ends URI's season.

"That was obviously a tough one to end our season on, hate to go out with that kind of a loss. South Carolina played very very well, Hill pitched very well, they hit the ball extremely well but i'm really proud of what our team accomplished this year," said URI Head Coach Ralph Cerrato in his post game press conference.

URI beat South Carolina in the first game of the tournament but were unable to to replicate that in the second one.

Disaster Inning

South Carolina scored at least one run in each of the first 5 innings before putting the game away in the 5th inning by scoring 8 runs, 7 of which came with 2 outs.

The inning consisted of three walks, one hit batter, four wild pitches and a walk before South Carolina's Alex Destino hit a three run home run.

URI's Historic Season

The Rams season comes to a close but it was a historic one nonetheless.

URI finished the year with a record of 31-27 and won the A-10 Conference championship by sweeping the tournament.

URI made it to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2005 and won their first NCAA Tournament game in program history.
