URI Baseball Earns NCAA Tournament Birth for First Time Since 2005

The URI Rams baseball team has reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2005 and for only the second time in program history. The rams were given a 4 seed  in the Columbia Regional and will face top seeded South Carolina in the first round. 

The game will take place on Friday, June 3 at 7 p.m. 

The Rams and Gamecocks met in 2011 and it was South Carolina who won 17-8.

URI's Road

URI gets in the tournament after sweeping the A-10 Tournament, outscoring opponents 38-7 in three games. 

In the regular season, URI won 7 of 8 conference series including three weekend sweeps en route to an 18-6 league record and an A-10 regular season title. 

The Columbia Regional 

The Columbia Regional is one of 16 regionals that will serve as a double-elimination tournament from June 3-6 with the winners advancing to the Super Regional. 

The winner of the Columbia Regional will face the Clemson Regional. 

Each of the Super Regionals is a best of three series with the 8 winners advancing to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
