URI Loses 64-61 Heartbreaker to Fordham

The URI Rams (17-14, 9-9 A-10) fell 64-61 to (17-12, 8-10 A-10) Fordham on Saturday afternoon in New York. The Rams conclude the season with a .500 conference record and hold the 7 seed going into the A-10 tournament.

With the game tied at 61 and 20 seconds left on the clock, Fordham's Antwoine Anderson got himself into the paint, drew a could on four McGlynn and converted the layup and hit the free throw to give Fordham a 64-61 lead.

Four McGlynn launched a three from just over half court with time winding down but it just missed. 

This all came after Four McGlynn tied the game at 61on a three with 20 seconds to play in the game. 

Missed Opportunity 

URI took a 12 point lead, 45-33, with 13:50 to go in the game before Fordham went on a 16-2 run over the next four minutes and took a 49-47 lead with 9:35 to play. 

The teams traded leads over the next couple of possessions before Fordham built  a 57-51 lead with 6:30 to go in the game. 

URI came back to take a 58-57 lead before Fordham scored four straight points to take their 61-58 lead with one minute left. 

The Leaders 

URI was led by Four McGlynn and Kuran Iverson who each netted 16 points. McGlynn's points came on 6 of 12 shooting from the field while Iverson's points came on 7 of 11 shooting from the field. 

Next up 

The Rams kick off the A-10 tournament on Thursday, March 10 when they fact UMass. 

Tip off is set for 6:30 p.m.
