BREAKING NEWS: Hurricane Warning Posted for Rhode Island

A Hurricane Warning has now been posted for Rhode Island and the entire Southern New England coastline all the way to Sagamore Beach on Cape Cod.

Hurricane Irene is currently about 265 miles south-southwest of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina and about 775 miles south-southwest of Providence. It is moving north at 14 mph with peak winds of 100 mph with higher gusts.

The storm is still expected to make landfall sometime around midday on Sunday on Long Island between New York City and Montauk Point.
