Retailer Banana Republic is closing its Providence Place Mall location.

An employee confirmed on Monday that the last day at Providence Place will be January 22.

Banana Republic was one of the original stores when the mall opened.

The Garden City location in Cranston will remain open.

It marks the latest major clothing store to leave the mall; both Talbots and Gap closed at Providence Place in 2023.

It marks the latest in recent changes at Providence Place, which opened in 1999.

In October, GoLocal reported that the mall - currently for sale and in receivership.

In recent weeks, the mall entered into an agreement with a new movie theater operator.
